The software company Step-X has licensed the ZOË open-source program and is now offering ZOË.professional, a search and archiving tool for e-mails in your company.
Today, the e-mail has developed into the most important means of communication for companies. It’s quite common to receive over one hundred items per day. How do you retain an overview? With its ZOË.professional program, Step-X provides a ready-made solution (including support and maintenance) to this problem. ZOË.professional benefits from the closely networked information contained in e-mails. The software recognizes interconnections everywhere. When you read an e-mail, all attachments, all URLs and the communication partners are at hand. When you click on one of the names, the context is shown, including what other e-mail addresses the partner uses, what e-mails he’s already written or received and what other partners he’s in contact with.
The substantial difference compared with the open-source program developed by Szwarc Consulting is that ZOË.professional is a multi-user server application. ZOË.professional is suitable for all companies that regard and use e-mail as a key means of communication.
The program enables you to retain a complete overview of all e-mail traffic in a straightforward way. Using a modest little search field, you can gain access to the mail mine. When you enter a couple of search terms, ZOË.professional consults the index compiled with Lucene, the open-source engine for full-text indexes. The hit list then provides ways into the reference network. ZOË.professional can also be used as an archiving solution for the exchange server, a central information pool and as a company-wide knowledge database.
ZOË.professional is written completely in Java and runs under and supports the Windows (NT, 2000, XP), Linux, Solaris and Mac OS-X Operating Systems.
